What could be a more appropriate way for a band of millennials to begin than with a Facebook post? The answer is finding each other on MySpace, but that’s beside the point! The point is the story of the Molly Wops begins with a post on Facebook by our lead singer and namesake, Lawren Hill. After several responses, we had our first lineup and the beginnings of the idea of what the band’s identity would be.

We held our first rehearsals in early 2023… in a kitchen! While our rehearsal accommodations haven’t improved drastically since then, everything else has. After some early shuffling of people in and out, we landed on a permanent lineup and our sets started to take shape. We had our first show at Prohibition Hub in Hagerstown in May 2023. Since then, we’ve continued to gig regularly, starting in the Hagerstown area and branching out to Frederick, Martinsburg, Chambersburg, and even as far as D.C. and Northern Virginia, carving out an identity and sound of our own in the Western MD music scene.
